Chapter 57: Grandmother's Truth
By Evelyn Hart · 124 words
The trouble began with something small enough to ignore and dangerous enough to matter.
Eleanor tells Lucy that adults sometimes hide mistakes and that hiding makes them grow. Lucy asks whether saying sorry makes everything normal.
Adrian understood that the next choice would be remembered long after the explanation. Lucy remained the line neither of them would cross. Whatever happened between the adults, their daughter would not be asked to purchase harmony with her own safety.
Eleanor answers no, surprising Adrian with her honesty.
"Sorry is where work begins, not where it ends."
Claire felt the old instinct to protect everyone from discomfort. This time she let the truth remain in the room.
Lucy then asks Adrian whether he and Claire will marry again.
