The trouble began with something small enough to ignore and dangerous enough to matter.

Victor's lawyer frames Claire as reckless and Adrian as unstable. Naomi exposes the lawyer's financial link to a Cross foundation.

Claire understood that the next choice would be remembered long after the explanation. They had become unusually honest since the divorce began. Honesty did not make the choices easier, but it stopped them from pretending that ease was the same thing as peace.

The judge preserves shared custody and warns both families against further media manipulation.

"Lucy is not a bargaining chip for men who cannot win honestly."
